The Position

In Roche´s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.

This position is anchored in the Data Products & Platforms Chapter within Data & Analytics (D&A). The Data Products & Platforms Chapter in D&A brings together all competencies required to design, build, operate and evolve our pRED-wide data backbone. We enhance the full scientific data pipeline from structured data capture to powerful data integration to efficient data interrogation in order to enable broad analytics scenarios.

The position holder will be member of the newly formed cross-functional RNAHub, where disease-biologists, nonclinical development experts, molecular biologists, molecule engineers, bioengineers and data scientists from various pRED functions join together to create and apply technologies that perturb RNA to discover drugs, biomarkers and targets.

The RNAHub takes a very data-centric approach, utilizing both artificial and human intelligence, that requires a high degree of data-literacy. In the RNAHub, we build a strong, collective and engaged community, where we employ, explore and evolve new ways of working in a research environment.

Role Mission:

We are offering an outstanding opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams of scientists dedicated to initiating and implementing novel drug discovery projects, and to jointly shape our future portfolio as a member of a broad network of drug discovery specialists.

Your Impact

  • Consolidate and grow our RNA data strategy tailored to generate fast and targeted scientific insights

  • Enable and enhance the structured collection of data along the full oligonucleotide value chain by designing, implementing, and advancing a landscape of data flows and repositories to build a strong data foundation for answering a variety of scientific questions in pRED’s nucleic acid based medicine research

  • Create fit for purpose data integrations that form the core of our RNA data space and ultimately enable our RN.AI vision (design predictable RNA modalities with the help of a data centric formulation based on an expanding data space both in terms of descriptors but also data points)

  • Nurture trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners.

Your Profile:

As a key skill, you excel at understanding, analyzing and modeling scientific data in pharmaceutical or life science research. Your extensive experience in setting up the collection, transformation and integration of multiple data sources allows you to design and implement a data strategy with its fitting data architecture. In partnership with colleagues and collaborators from diverse scientific disciplines you are able to create a modern data framework that is able to follow, adapt and accelerate the scientific direction. You have experience with product or technical leadership in the delivery of data lakes, warehouses, lake houses or similar data integration approaches and optimally in developing data transformation workflows in a high-level data science language like R or Python. You are able to translate scientific objectives into state-of-the-art digital solutions and navigate consciously between strategic conceptual thinking and detail-oriented planning for their implementation. You enjoy taking decisions and always prioritize with an agile mindset to bring the most value to pRED scientists. You have strong oral and written communication skills and are proficient in working with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.

You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You enjoy building and nurturing networks and effective relationships with colleagues and collaborators from diverse scientific disciplines within and beyond Roche to reach shared goals. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner. You have a sense for ensuring that everyone has the required information at all times.
